We sleep through our first earthquake!

The white and yellow boxes indicate the strength of the tremors

John was busy having a nice chat Thursday morning with some new friends when one of them asked if we had felt the earthquake early this morning.  Earthquake – what earthquake? We realized that Alaska was a seismic cauldron but never really thought about an earthquake actually happening while we are here.  No, haven’t felt a thing – or wait a minute!  We did get up to go to the bathroom about that time – wonder if there is some sort of a relationship?  At any rate we both have absolutely no recollection of our first 4.8 magnitude earthquake at 5:18 AM on July 27, 2006.  Come to think of it, I hope that’s the way it is until we leave!

For those more curious, here is a link to a PDF file with details about this earthquake.
