Sorry, the title is a little more provocative than today’s content! We left Anchorage this morning about 10 AM headed for Valdez with a three-day stop in Glennallen which is about half-way. On a previous Jeep trip from Anchorage we drove to Palmer because a friend from a previous church used to summer in Palmer and we were curious about the town. Palmer grew dramatically in the 1930s due to a government effort to entice settlers to the fertile valley that is considered the breadbasket of Alaska. It is a lovely little town surrounded by mountains (which we couldn’t see due to the low clouds – not an unusual thing.)
While driving around we found a giant-size automatic car wash that was large enough for our coach so we made note of the location so we could stop by on our way to
Glennallen. We did a little shopping and drove back to Anchorage. This morning we gave the giant sized automatic RV wash a try – wow – it was strange to sit in the coach while the wash gizmo goes back and forth. After $20 worth of soap and high-pressure water we were sort of clean. Not nearly as clean as my brush on the end of the 30 foot-long pole will do but virtually all RV parks in Alaska will not permit car or RV washing so this was good enough.
We are going to hang out in Glennallen at the Northern Nights RV Campground for three days and then move on
to our very favorite Valdez for two weeks. (Northern Nights must have the longest domain name <web address> I have ever seen in my life – check it out!)
